Shakespeare's Birthday Parade

Every year, we celebrate Shakespeare's Birthday with a parade to the Painted Room on Cornmarket. The procession starts at the Castle with some stunning performances by students from Oxford Spires Academy before the Shakespeare town crier.  Medieval musicians The Oxford Waits lead the parade, which usually includes the Pro-Vice Chancellor, the Proctors, Assessor and Bedels from the University; the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, the High Sheriff, and the Lord Mayor through the streets to the Painted Room.

Come and watch as the great and the good of Oxford parade from St George's Tower, Oxford Castle to the Painted Room in Cornmarket in the annual celebration of Shakespeare's birthday.

Parade begins 11am approximately.

Free event, all welcome.

No booking required.
