Our Response:

Whilst we appreciate the necessity of upgrading connectivity infrastructure within the city and the short supply of suitable sites, we are concerned by the 5 meter increase in height proposed by the replacement mast. This proposed increase in the height and massing of the mast will make it a much more prominent feature in Oxford’s immediate setting. We think that views from the Thames path are particularly at risk of being impacted by this development.
If Officers are able to do so, we request that the retention of the mature trees surrounding the application site screening the existing mast be conditioned as a part of this application. This would help to mitigate the impact of the proposed mast from short and long distance views.
