OPT Places

At Oxford Preservation Trust, we’re proud to protect and revitalise local heritage, from saving buildings at risk to caring for some of Oxford’s most historic places. This Oxford Open Doors weekend, explore a range of our own projects and places that reflect our mission to open up the city’s history for all.

Climb the Castle Mound or St George's Tower inside the 1,000-year-old Oxford Castle & Prison and look out over the dreaming spires. Visit the remarkable wall paintings in the Medieval Merchant's House in Abingdon or the Painted Room on Cornmarket.

Or for a chance to see some of the city's industrial and engineering history, head to the North Hinksey Conduit House, which at one time played a key role in delivering clean water to the city centre or pop along to the Rewley Road Swingbridge designed by Robert Stephenson.
