Noticing Nature at Heyford Meadow
This morning, our Engagement Manager Anna Clark joined Thames Valley Environmental Records Centre (TVERC) for a Noticing Nature event at Heyford Meadow, a tranquil stretch of meadowland between Sandford Upon Thames and Kennington, which runs alongside the Thames.
The event brought together a small group of nature enthusiasts for a relaxed, 90-minute guided walk around the meadow. Participants were introduced to the iNaturalist app – a free, easy-to-use tool for identifying and recording wildlife. With support from the TVERC team, attendees were encouraged to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the abundance of plant and animal life thriving in this often-overlooked corner of the city.
Events like these shine a spotlight on the biodiversity present in Oxford’s meadows, and how valuable these spaces are for both wildlife and wellbeing. They also support citizen science, enabling members of the public to contribute to environmental records and conservation efforts.
A huge thank you to the team at TVERC for organising such an inspiring and informative session. We look forward to more opportunities to connect with nature and celebrate Oxford’s green spaces.
