Cattle grazing in Hinksey Meadow
Grazing cattle have made a welcome return to Hinksey Meadow, these Aberdeen Angus cows aren’t just a charming site, their presence is vital for helping keep the ancient floodplain meadow healthy. By stopping any one species from dominating, they protect the rare MG4 grassland within this habitat, keeping it biodiverse and rich with wildflowers.
As always, we ask visitors to respect the cattle and give them plenty of space, particularly as there may be calves present. If you are walking your dog, please follow the Countryside Code by keeping them under control and in sight at all times, ensuring a safe environment for both livestock and visitors.
