Cattle are back grazing in Kennington Memorial Field
We are delighted to welcome the cattle back to Kennington Memorial Field as part of our ongoing efforts to manage the grassland and encourage biodiversity. These grazing animals play a crucial role in shaping the landscape by keeping dominant plant species in check, allowing a wider range of wildflowers to establish and flourish. Their presence prevents grasses from dominating the area, while their movement disturbs the soil, creating the perfect conditions for new plants to grow. Additionally, their dung provides a valuable habitat for many invertebrate species, supporting the wider ecosystem.
As always, we ask visitors to respect the cattle and give them plenty of space, particularly as there may be calves present. If you are walking your dog, please follow the Countryside Code by keeping them under control and in sight at all times, ensuring a safe environment for both livestock and visitors.
Thank you for helping us care for this important green space! If you have any concerns or notice anything the grazier should be aware of, please contact Stuart on 07786 931481.
