The proposed new signage is both significantly larger than that existing, and in a brighter and more visually distracting colour scheme. A number of signs are also internally illuminated and this will increase the visibility of the signage within the public domain.
Whilst we understand the need to provide signage, we have concerns that the increase in scale, illumination and number of signs across the application area has the potential to detract from the wider setting of the Grade I listed University Museum and Pitt Rivers Museum.
