What's on

Experience the Examination Schools! This usually private venue welcomes you to view its architecture, and to see the spaces where the students of Oxford sit their assessments.

Built between 1876 and 1881, the Grade II listed building in the heart of Oxford's City Centre was first designed to house the University's examinations, and this remains its primary purpose to this day. During the First World War it acted as headquarters for the 3rd South General Hospital (a facility for the Royal Army Medical Corps to treat military casualties).

Sir Thomas Jackson's love of nature is shown throughout the venue, with intricate carvings of throughout the marble floors, and high ceilings.

Take a self-guided tour, or book onto a guided tour to learn more about the architecture, history and use of this grand venue! Tours will be running at 10:00, 12:00 and 15:00 and each are an hour long. Please note that tours are now fully booked.
