Ann Spokes Symonds

We are sorry to begin the year with the sad news that our Vice President, Ann Spokes Symonds sadly died on 27 December. Ann was 94 and had been ill in the latter half of last year. Ann’s family, the Spokes, had a long involvement with Oxford Preservation Trust, first through her father Alderman Peter Spokes as far back as 1953, and then through Ann who became a Trustee in 1979. In 2010 we were delighted when she accepted the invitation to become Vice President, recognising her very special contribution to OPT and to the City which she loved so dearly. For all of us at OPT, it was a privilege to have known her and to have enjoyed her company, and a delight to know that her knowledge will live on through her many published local history books.
The Spokes family have kindly said that any contributions made in memory of Ann should go to Oxford Preservation Trust. Donations can be made by following this link www.oxfordpreservation.org.uk/content/donate Please e-mail info@oxfordpreservation.org.uk to let us know of your donation and so that we can thank you.
