The Randolph Hotel - The Randolph Tour, Sunday 11th September, 12.30

Sunday, September 11, 2022 - 12:30 to 13:00
The Randolph Hotel

A landmark hotel in the heart of the city, The Randolph Hotel began construction in 1864 and opened its doors to the public two years later. Named after Rev. Dr. Frances Randolph, the hotel’s history spans an iconic reputation which includes famous guests from King Edward VII to Jimmy Carter. The hotel has deep ties to Inspector Morse creator Colin Dexter, who was a hotel regular and penned some of his most famous books there. The hotel’s Morse Bar served as a set for the TV series.

Operated by Graduate Hotels since 2019 and reopened following renovation in 2021, The Randolph pays homage to the university’s storied innovators and alumni, including Lewis Carroll and Oscar Wilde. From handcrafted odes to collegiate shields hanging above the front desk, even the smallest details pay homage to what came before. Learn about the hotel’s history, enjoy live music, or relax in the grand ballroom. Limited guided hotel tours are available to book in advance. Cash bar and food available throughout day.
