* Guided walks and tours Oxford City Walls Tour with OPT Trustee Julian Munby- Wednesday 10 November, 2pm
This guided walk is especially for OPT members as part of the Oxford Castle at 950 anniversary celebrations.
"There are sections of the city walls that survive in surprising locations and you can learn something of the history of the medieval town along the way, and places where excavations have provided further insights."
From the origins of Oxford as an Anglo-Saxon borough during the reign of King Alfred (AD 871-899), through the major rebuilding of the stone wall in the early 13th Century, up to modern day where old walls still survive as property boundaries and garden walls, join OPT Trustee Julian Munby on a tour of Oxford's City Walls, and discover that the original city walls are still standing, hidden beneath your feet.
