Simons' Land Conservation Work Party - Sun 8 September, 10am

Sunday, September 8, 2019 - 10:00 to 15:00
Venue:
Simons' Land

Join us and the Oxford Conservation Volunteers for a big tidy up at Simons' Land

This conservation work party will start at 10am and finish at about 3pm - come along for as long as you like.  Please bring a packed lunch, hot drinks and biscuits are provided at breaks throughout the day.  There's always plenty to do to suit all ages and abilities, and no previous experience is necessary.  Please wear stout shoes or wellies and old clothes, and bring gardening gloves if you have them as they will probably fit better than any we lend.  Hand tools will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your own.  Contact us for more information.

Simons' Land

OPT was gifted this small garden site in Sandford by Mr and Mrs Simons, without an endowment.  The land had been a garden to their boat mooring on the Thames, opposite Rose Island.

The garden had been neglected and there was no public access.  On acquisition, the Trust arranged for the removal of fallen and dead trees and the construction of a board walk from the top of the garden sloping gently down to the river where there are long views across the Thames and the Trust’s river meadows at Kennington.
