* Guided walks and tours - Astounding inventions, innovations and inspirations – walk Saturday 10th September, 14:00 to 15:15
Astounding inventions, innovations and inspirations’ - from penicillin to a covid vaccine, Morris cars to marmalade, Oxford has been at the forefront of inventions and discoveries. It has also inspired innumerable artists, writers, film-makers and poets, from Matthew Arnold (who coined the phrase 'dreaming spires'), Tolkien and Colin Dexter to the makers of 'Harry Potter', 'The Favourite' and 'His Dark Materials'.
Come on a guided walk with a member of the Oxford Guild of Tour Guides and find out more about the astounding story of your city. In a 75-minute stroll around the city centre we will entertain and inform you and hopefully open your eyes to new aspects of Oxford.
Comfortable shoes advised. If wet, we walk anyway!
Not suitable for children.
Pre-booking for the event will start on 20th August and if you are successful you will be told of the starting point in the week beforehand.
