Unlocking the Secrets - Shakespeare's Painted Room
The Annual Oxford Day School, in partnership with the Department for Continuing Education, will explore The painted Room, its wall paintings and the plants depicted, together with the wider history of Oxford medieval taverns and the Shakespeare connection.
9.15am - Registration
9.30am - Wall paintings revealed - unlocking their history with Dr Kathryn Davies, Vice-Chair of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation
10.30am - Plants and their depiction with Professor Stephen Harris, Department of Plant Sciences, University of Oxford
11.30am - Coffee/tea
12 noon - Medieval houses and taverns with Julian Munby, Head of Buildings Archaeology, Oxford Archaeology
1pm - Lunch
2.15pm - Shakespeare and Oxford University with Dr Elizabeth Sandis, Leverhulme Fellow, The Shakespeare Institute
3.15pm - Day school closes
There will be an opportunity to visit The Painted Room at the end of the Day School
