Oxford Open Doors 2010 – marking Oxfordshire’s Season of Science - was the fourth in the Trust’s successful Open Doors programme. Over one weekend in September over 50,000 visits were made to 180 places and activities in a celebration of all that makes Oxford unique.
Oxford’s colleges and university buildings were once again very popular: All Souls College, Magdalen College and the Bodleian Library all received around 5,000 visitors. The Town Hall’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Thames Valley Police at Oxford Castle and the chance to be a judge at Old County Hall also drew the crowds and were major hits with our younger visitors. Across the city all venues reported high levels of interest and enthusiasm shown by those enjoying the city. More than 1200 people pre-booked 80 walks & tours.
The overwhelming majority of visitors were from the city and county but a significant number made a special trip from further afield.
We hope you will join us for Oxford Open Doors 2011 when our theme will be Oxford’s Sporting Heritage. Mark the dates now: Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 September
